Navigating the Highs & Lows To Enjoy A Full Life

Welcome to our new district website! Once a month, you will find a note from our staff letting you know about an event or a piece of encouragement.

YourPlanVsRealityI am typing this near where we had Pow Wow last year. I’ve been sent to WV to assist with the flooding issues. And you thought it rained hard then! I’m sitting on a road that is beside the Williams River that flooded 35 feet above normal levels. As I think back over the month of June, I see problems that have crept into all our lives here in Appalachia: family medical problems, death of a family member, flooding that affected about 1/3 of our network, or just personal struggles. But at the same time, I see things to celebrate! Miracles of healing; knowing, because of their life testimony, family that has gone on to be with the Lord; hearing stories of so many that were able to survive the floods; hearing about high schoolers having revival in West Virginia on the Kentucky line; seeing boys honored for working toward their goals and the Lord.

Thinking of all these things, I think of Job. He was an honest man, a man of his word, totally devoted to God, hated evil with a passion, had many children, had money and was the most influential man around. God trusted him. But Satan tried to turn Job’s heart, so Satan killed all his kids by a natural disaster, eliminated all his money, and tried to take his integrity by giving him a painful skin disease and by convincing his friends to tell him he was not honest and had been secretly evil. But Job’s integrity kept him faithful to God! God blessed him doubly. He was still honest, still a man of his word, still totally devoted to God, still hated evil with a passion, had ten more children, gained his money back and lived a full life.

A full life is having to experience the highs and lows of life. I call it an adventure. We don’t always enjoy all we encounter in life, but we can enjoy a full life!
